Common Law Wins 9 Hearings for Food Vendors in July-August!

Common Law’s vendors’ rights program continues to win victories for low-income food vendors throughout New York City!  Between July and August alone, Common Law won 9 administrative hearings to contest harsh fines against food vendors.  This resulted in thousands of dollars in fines against vendors being dismissed!

Common Law Joins Organizing for Occupation for Successful Eviction Blockade!

On August 19th, Common Law joined over 200 people in an eviction blockade to successfully fight off the marshal!  The eviction blockade by Organizing for Occupation (O4O) helped Ms. Mary Lee Ward, an 82 year-old great-grandmother in Bed-Stuy, remain in her home.  Common Law is currently in settlement negotiations with the landlord to fight for Ms. Ward’s right to her home!
